My Dad
Every little girl
Has a common dream
To start out as a princess
And grow into a queen
As a little girl
I looked up to my dad
He treated me like a princess
He was like my comrade
Although I was his princess
He still taught me to work
A queen must be self-reliant one day
From this lesson he did not shirk
“Work is very important” he said
But there must be time to play
Whether Mickey Mouse or pirate ships
It’s an important part of the day
When others tried to bring me down,
He reminded me to keep my chin up
“No matter what cruel words they say
Remember you are enough”
Rain or shine, hot or cold
He always had a smile
He taught me to look at the bright side of things
That lesson has stayed with me for a while
I’m so grateful for my dad
For thanks to him I’ve grown
I started as a princess
But as a queen I’ll soon be known
