My Abyss
An open crevice, like
A monster's gaping maw
Waiting, beckoning
To swallow me whole.
I stand at the edge
Alone. Afraid.
The darkness
Echoes below.
I want to walk away.
Like I always have.
Ignore it until it goes away.
But it never does.
So here I am.
Preparing to take the leap
I've dreaded since birth.
To conquer my fear.
Before I do, to save myself
I must remind myself
That I am never, never
Alone.
