A Mother's Love

Because you loved me, you told me to lose weight

You loved my hair long, when I wanted to cut it short

You loved my perfect grades, when I was struggling to keep up

Because you loved me, it was more important to spend time with family than to have friends

You loved teaching me to drive, when I hated it and cried

You loved shopping for clothes, when you didn’t like anything I tried on

You loved skinny,

You loved smart.

You loved a perfect daughter,

Because you didn’t love me.
