To A Mother

The wisdom of your years

Is stippled on your face.

Pockmarks on a worn canvas.

There’s history there

On your weathered bones,

Stories of love,

Loss,

Loneliness,

Life,

Scribed into the marrow.

How beautiful you are

In your timelessness.
