mother

hurtful words you repeat

those haunting phrases cut so deep

yet you wonder why i never speak

you make me feel so isolated

as if space for me was not created

so i will run away from here

and you’ll wonder why i don’t keep you near

i’ll change my number, we’ll fade away

but i will live to see another day

and while your hair is turning grey

i hope you look back and say

“i’m sorry”

“i should’ve been a better mommy.”
