more than paper

“And i knew that that was all

we were going to be

just the lines between the spaces

that everyone filled up

we were never going to meet

each a parallel abyss of blue ink

stretched across milky skies

me screaming your name as i looked up

and i wished

O God i wished

that i was the red line

and you the blue

our fates meant to collide

against a universe of white

but we were laid upon an empty sheet

and they got to choose who we were

and i never should have let them

i should have ran across

even if only as the black lead

cascading against your back

simply a flick and curve

that met as short kisses and side-long glances

you are the story that lines my pages

and i will never forget you.”
