devouring you to think in certain ways
not in one that you might be an equal,
but in a way that gives you power,
makes you become righteous,
sworm to the oath that says "in god we trust".
but we actually reverent it, despite god.
treating it like the massiah of all
taking away our troubles
if trouble were to call
giving us what we need for survival
food, water, a roof, a car, even clothes,
givings us what we want for survival,
accessories, technology, knowledge, seminars.

making us forget the purpose in life is to give life
but what is giving life when you don't have the means to give life
to care for the wife that might give life
to care for the infant who gained life
to care for the parents who previously gave life to you
expecting that one day you might have the means to
give heaven on earth to them because they already went through
the shit you're going through, maybe even more.
the difference is that they're both in debt and you're not.

and now your contemplating the importance of it
think about the bills you need to pay
the rents due next day
you write poems to avoid sallie mae
stressed in all this
while the baby is crying and you cant seem to shut it up
so you have to give him that nipple you bought because fuck it,
babies need nipples and you baught one.

sticking to the mindset that its the most important item of all
consuming you in everyway.
always planning to gain some and lose some.
as long as the outcome is income.
life becomes devoured in the one thing we all chase in the back of our heads.
