Mommy Thought She Taught Me

Mommy says she taught me best
Mommy says she taught me right

I have to get the truth off my chest
The thing is, I was awake at night

Thinking about all she had told me
Thinking about all she never said

I was led to believe to let bad be
Because bad was what we bred

Mommy was never in the wrong
Mommy was always the victim

It was the same old dance and song
Mommy was always so darksome

Mommy was depressed and sad
Mommy was screaming and crying

If I said that mommy was bad
Then I am the one that was lying

Mommy taught me quite a bit
Mommy taught me about herself

I learned without mommy how to sit
And find what good was in myself
