Miracles

What does it mean to be who we are?

We come so far

Only to find

That we can never rewind

To take back all the things that we said

All the things that we did when we were seeing red

Society is just a black ocean torrent

Sucking us down with its tremendous current

But there are some of us who float on above

Reaching out a hand and showing some love

Giving others light to see by

Giving everyone the chance to try

The cruel world we live in loves to laugh at them

But nobody takes the time to understand

That they've gone through the same hardships as you

But you mock them because you haven't a clue

Others try to escape it all

Living in their dream worlds

But they've got to fall

Back into reality

Connect with the people around them

Despite their proclivity

All in all, life seems like a game

Try to play by the rules

Through the fun and the pain

Trying to find out what makes us who we are

Surpassing others who have set the bar

Surprised to find

Just what you can do

When you muddle through

And realize

That you're just fine

There's too much to worry about

So why not give up?

Just take a look around

And see what's up

There's so much to live for

It's there all around you

Everything is beautiful and interconnected

Shocking you when you least expect it

And even if you feel like you're nothing

You can always be a part of the greatness that is everything

Pick yourself up and dust yourself off

Raise your head to sky

And smile wide

Because you're alive

There doesn't need to be a reason why

Live freely and be who you are

Take the step forward

And go take charge

Make your own way

Through the dust and the tar

'Till you find the light

At the end of the road

Then smile and sigh

Because then you're home
