Mental Maturity

Sun, 11/30/2014 - 23:41 -- awoods1

Do they dabble in trends?
Dwell on the popular breed,
No matter the way their stories bend?
No matter the fruit of their seeds?

Most popular on Twitter or “Stars of Reality”
People and events, rather than ideas.
They like to dwell on the people of society,
Not what constructs the world’s societies.

Ideas, concepts; my mind contemplates,
Topics beyond the minds of some.
Politics, life - what builds, manipulates.
Such has my thought process become.

Celebrity developments: past infatuations.
Society and culture: through mental maturity.
From behaviors and human interactions,
To a country’s so-called democracy.

Why do I conceal these rapid thoughts?
Shelter these elobarate processes?
Why not share what I forfeit, what I lost,
and what I now throughout time possess?

Perhaps to fit in, to share a “common mind”,
Not to discuss life or philosophy.
To become the "norm"; what’s left behind,
Avoid misunderstandings and animosity.

Are they not ready? Underprepared?
I’ll have my thoughts, you have yours.
Nevertheless, our society is shared,
And sometimes we let it take its course.

While they contemplate the surface,
The epidermis of this reality,
I will for days examine the core:
These philosophical seeds and ideas.
