Masks and Signs

When we wear a mask

We smile to cover anguish

A brave face is just a well adhered lie

Stopping to look for the cold ice bleeding out behind a sunny disposition

We see the signs of falsehoods spun into truth

It's strength where weakness should be

Saves lives

But lost children don't see the signs across their own faces

Singing sorrow with high notes of birdsong

Show the sign

Remove the mask

Carry the broken parts and put them back into the soul

and grow into your own mind.
