Mama, you need to grow

I thought I had it all figured out until that test hit me like a ton of bricks.

I now had two lives to care of at the age of 20.

Mama, you need to grow.

You looked to me for care, guidance and all the answers to the world.

I looked to a bottle.

Mama, you need to grow.

I thought at my age I wasn't a child. But that's all I was.

I realized life puts us in situations that causes us to fight or flight.

I finally chose to fight and to not act like a child.

Mama, you need to grow.

I am their mama and my daughters will know that I grew.

I fill your heads with loving affirmations and show you how to be kind.

We talk about the wonders of the world instead of me drinking myself to sleep.

I am 25 and everyday my daughters will know

Mama is continuously growing.
