Mama Bear
A teddy bear
Soft and cute
We all had one as a little kid
Or even as an adult
Nothing wrong with that
And sometimes
We had a big teddy bear with a slightly smaller teddy bear
And we would pretend the bigger one was the mama
Now
The mama bear and the baby bear would play games with you
You would have your little tea parties
Or show downs at high noon
Where mama bear and baby bear were hostages
And you had to save them
And at night
You would all curl up
Nice and warm
In your den
And you do this everyday
And then
You get angry
And you throw baby bear
You punch baby bear to take out your anger on whoever it was that made you mad
And you pull at baby bears arms, tearing the seams until you can see the stuffing
And mama bear watches quietly
And you apologize
You put baby bear to bed
And tell him you can play tomorrow
And all is well
But in the real world
Mama bear wouldn't sit and watch quietly
Mama bear
Would rip you a new one
Mama bear
Would show you why you always play dead
When faced with a grizzly
A mama bear
Would show you why you never
Get between her and her cubs
Or a mother and her child
Mama bear
Will show you what it means to get small
And to get quiet
And to retreat
Because mama bears won't usually attack
But if you go for her baby bear
It wont matter how many
Tea partiies you've had or
How many show downs youve saved her from
Mama bear won't let anyone
Hurt her baby bear
