Make Room
The world is stumbling
Sham-ambling through a series of convictions
To the black gates of hell, death and destruction.
But the cross stands in the center
And parts the masses,
And He who bled on the cross, died, and was removed from it
Cries out in a loud agonized voice,
"There's room! For you and you and you!
Here at the Cross there's room!"
It's not enough the reckoning comes
Not just judgement and hellfire.
Love so amazing and so divine waits there.
The Cross was an instrument of destruction
Born from mans hatred and greed
To bring the most tortue to its victims,
And on that Cross did the Savior bleed.
It wasn't enough that someone had to die
To make room there at the Cross,
No not enough certainly, for this person had to be sinless.
And we all know that no one is sinless.
If you're honest with yourself you know the most sinful thing ever-
Is you.
But people don't like to hear that,
And the cross reminds them of that.
So while the Savior parts the savage black sea
They flow on by.
Some don't pay attention
And others scorn and reject Him
But still others with knocking knees
Come before Him and bow
And He-
He calls them all by name
"John Jacob, Hosea George, Greg, Phil Robert
Sally, Sarah, Helen, Mary, Sydney, Kathryn, Chloe!"
The Cross is the turning point of history
A single fixed sacrifice for everyone that has lived and died.
And men need that sacrifice.
Someone perfect to take their sins for them
And pay the debt they could only ever owe,
and never escape from.
The beauty of the cross is its beautiful punishment
Where Christ paid the debt He didn't owe
So we could have the righteousness we didn't earn.
And so crowd to the cross, there's room.
If it doens't look like it, He'll make some.
There's no one He loves more than you,
Theres love waiting here,
Don't forsake Him.
No matter how bad how dirty how broken you are
Christ died for your sins,
LOOK at him, theres a start
We're all sinners, born for judgement.
But Christ, knowing us
Took our punishment
And gave us His life instead.
