Maiden of Nuremberg
The once was a lovely maiden
Whose face shined like steel and silver
She was just a hallow shell seen by many men
Iron thorns cover the inside of her.
She has watched many who have been condemned
In the age of darkness and torment
For her cold body and mind assisted with their end
And to Death’s doorstep they were sent.
She wept tears of blood
For each poor soul that hath faced the chain
Their only possession is but an unnamed stone in the shallow mud
Their bodies laden with holes during the bloody reign in Spain.
As time reduced castles to sand
She now watches from a glass cage
No longer a tool of the devil’s hand
But just another mark on history’s page.
