pedro taino
a puerto rican terrorist quote on quote
locked up behind bars
in a u.s. prison
pedro is a
self-described machetero
a warrior class
of puerto rican freedom fighter
fighting to free a colonized puerto rico
from a place we are united against the states
though many question his decision
to use violence to achieve the freedom
he breaks down redemption
freedom
independence
madre always told him
puerto rico is in your heart
one must struggle
in order to take freedom, liberation and independence

a ghetto youth grows up
trapped in a cycle of violence
he is encouraged by pedro
and by his memories of a mentor
from his childhood days in puerto rico
who was a former U.S. held puerto rican
political prisoner of war to become the next machetero
machetero is a meditation
on violence as a means towards liberation
post 9/11 definitions, ideas, and notions of terrorism has been explored and challenged
it was said violence is not always the answer
violence is the remedy that conquers bullies
in a nation that i salute to? never
