The Love of the Willow

Location

fffffffffffffIn the dark of the night
By the light of the moon
I sat without fright
Knowing he would come soon

I sat by the tree
With the crudely drawn heart
Where I knew he’d find me
And our journey would start

He said he’d be here
At this old willow tree
So I won’t shed one tear
Until we are both free

The night soon grew cold
But I did not lose sight
Of us growing old
To dance in the night

The animals came out
So curious of me
And continued their route
By the old willow tree

When the night turned to day
I sat patient as I could
Hoping we would run away
As he said that we would

The time soon grew long
And the nights passed me by
Hoping I was not wrong
Hoping he did not lie

As the days drifted by
And my love did not show
I reached for the sky
As a tree, I began to grow

As I stood, grand and strong
The day finally came
When, after so long
He came calling my name

When I did not answer
He sat in my shade
Saying, “I’ll wait forever”
While above him, I swayed

He sat there forever
Until he, too, began to fade
And we were finally together
With the promises we made

Now, we are both Willows
Both beautiful with height
And from the cool, gentle breeze
We dance through the night

In the dark of the night

By the light of the moon

I sat without fright

Knowing he would come soon

I sat by the tree

With the crudely drawn heart

Where I knew he’d find me

And our journey would start

He said he’d be here

At this old willow tree

So I won’t shed one tear

Until we are both free

The night soon grew cold

But I did not lose sight

Of us growing old

To dance in the night

The animals came out

So curious of me

And continued their route

By the old willow tree

When the night turned to day

I sat patient as I could

Hoping we would run away

As he said that we would

The time soon grew long

And the nights passed me by

Hoping I was not wrong

Hoping he did not lie

As the days drifted by

And my love did not show

I reached for the sky

As a tree, I began to grow

As I stood, grand and strong

The day finally came

When, after so long

He came calling my name

When I did not answer

He sat in my shade

Saying, “I’ll wait forever”

While above him, I swayed

He sat there forever

Until he, too, began to fade

And we were finally together

With the promises we made

Now, we are both Willows

Both beautiful with height

And from the cool, gentle breeze

We dance through the night
