Love that's Proud

Location

I see you you know,

You think I can’t see you staring,

At me holding my girlfriends hand,

But I do,

Oh how I see your judgmental eyes,

Degrading our love,

Like we are two animals in a cage,

Did your mother ever tell you,

How rude it is to stare?

Because if she didn’t,

I only question what you’re teaching,

Your 5 year old daughter standing next to you,

Who doesn’t see the difference,

Between the love I share with my girlfriend,

And the love you share with your husband,

See that might just be the difference between us,
“Gays” and you close minded straight folk,

Maybe my mind stayed open,

like when I was 5 years old,

And I played with all the boys,

Because they didn’t care about the plumbing downstairs,

All they cared about was the fact I just scored two touchdowns,

and put our 3rd grade recess team ahead by 14 points,

Maybe you were the girls on the side lines,

In your pink little dresses saying,

She can’t play!

She’s a girl!

Or maybe you were the teacher who let me get slammed into my locker,

For half the year of 7th grade,

Even better,

Maybe you were the girl,

Calling me faggot as you kicked my,

And tore my books from my hand,

Cause its all fun and games,

as long as you don’t get in trouble right?

It doesn’t matter who you are,

because me? I just don’t care,

see I’d take being a dyke any day,

Then some homophobic asshole,

Who’s afraid to even say the word GAY,

So in the middle of this store,

I will pull my girlfriend close,

Cause the cure for your homophobic hatred,

Is love in lethal dose,

So I’ll gently kiss her lips,

Melting the world into my stage,

And lucky for you,

Ms. Hater,

You are front row at this play,

See I know that you are staring,

Dirty glances thrown my way,

But honestly I don’t give two shits

Cause I’m loud, I’m proud, I’m GAY.
