I want a reason to buy a new dress.
I want to feel purpose behind each caress.
I want to be held when no one is looking.
I want to be loved when all else is failing.
Sometimes, I cry in the midst of a dark, stormy night.
Sometimes, I pray for the slightest glimpse of light.
Sometimes, I ignore all the words that you speak.
Sometimes, I cry because I am too weak.
My strength shouldn't come from a man with no fears.
My heart shouldn't melt for eyes never filled with tears.
My arms shouldn't stretch for lifeless romances.
My fingers shouldn't fold into hollow branches.
They stem into boneless twirls of flesh.
They reach for me to fall hopeless.
They curl around my soul so fine.
They beg of me to never leave you behind.
This love of ours is nonexistent.
The stars of night are day-resistant.
And I, never being good enough,
Am failing to see my diamonds through your rough.
