Love handles

The mirror distorts my image

Widens out areas I wish were more slim

Slims out areas I wish were more “thick.”

I grab onto my love handles.

I’m always finding tips to get rid of these.

Follow this,do this, get rid of it now.

But when I look at the mirror,

I see everything I am

Not everyone I wish

I could be.

And I start to notice the small things.

I have dimples,

Freckles in my eyes.

I have a funny laugh,

I like to dance in my underwear.

I love to eat peanut butter straight out of the jar.

I cry in Disney movies

And do my best to take care of others.

Instead of pointing out the bad

I want to love the good.

I want to love

My love handles.
