Love’s Spirit
Society today
has taught all our girls
that bruises are pretty
and go well with curls.
That broken teeth
and fractured bones
are a sexy woman’s way
to bring a man home.
But Love isn’t about
how much pain you can endure;
Love is about being
honest and assured.
’Cause at the end of the day
when there’s nothing left to grow,
when the journey has ended
and the sun is down low,
Love will be there
with a wide open heart,
to hug and to hold,
to create a new start.
And all because,
three words,
”I love you,”
they’d say.
Not with their fists
but with their spirit,
that’s the way.
