The Living Sandbox

Sat, 10/10/2020 - 10:09 -- Gabvegi

Five years old.

Clouds like eyes in the summer sky.

Fairies frolic through dandelion fields.

In a timeless abyss

 I roll down grassy hills,

search for four leaf clovers

dance on the moons of mars,

Fly carelessly through the milky-way.

Back on earth shines a distant hue of blue,

Tiny diamonds gleam in the hot sun,

A breathless wonder.

Treasure!

Run, Run, Run!

Leaping without limit, I am transformed.

Prince, princesses, and dragons, yes!

My brother and sister join the journey

Our lives intertwine, imaginations merging into one.

Minds and hearts the key to creation, our reality.

Building a palace,

 tall, infinite, and spectacular.

Billions of particles become a united whole,

Something out of nothing. Powerful beyond measure.

Day turns to night.

The moon and the stars radiate.

Galaxies collide in a striking blend of song and light.

A wind so great sweeps through –

Shifting the grains, my tower, my world.

The dragon leans on the balcony’s edge,

“we’ll save you” – my sister sings to the dragon,

A fantasy etched into reality.

 together on a mission, united

like a harmonious symphony –

we rebuild.

Stronger now, the castle stands.

“Time for dinner,” echoes a familiar voice in the distance.

We stand up and smile

A welcome detail in our shared journey.

“Last one in is a rotten egg,” I shout.

Just another day in the living sandbox.
