Little Wallflower
Location
“Come on, little wallflower
Let your petals show
There’s no need to shy away
Come on, give it a go”
But the wallflower just shakes
“No, no”
She speaks to her friend
“The things I hear
They scare me
I do not wish to be hurt
I have no thorns to guard me
From those to do me harm
Nor do I have petals
With awe-inspiring colors
To keep them mesmerized
Please, my friend
Go enjoy yourself
With the life you have to live
Don’t worry on me
I’ll be just fine
Just turn your leaves and go”
“But my dear wallflower
I can’t just leave you be
Not until you show your petals
And blossom to the light”
“My dear friend”
The wallflower replies
“I’m sorry I have burdened you
To worry on little me
Someday I will show my petals
And turn up my leaves
Yet I am not ready yet
Just give me a little more time
But for now just go
I’ll join you later on”
So the friend left the wallflower
To gaze upon the other blooms
The little wallflower
Just a bud
Stayed in her little corner
No other bothered the little wallflower
Just gave a polite nod
Some would stop by
To talk their problems to the wallflower
For the wallflower just listened to every word
Absorbing the problems of her friends
And learning from their mistakes
Through time, she grew
Only showing her petals to those closest
Much more urged her to open up
But she continued to resist
This one little flaw kept her hid away
But this is not so bad
For she knows that just because she is of late bloom
She just has more time to grow
But when that time is up
She will now for sure
That her petals will be perfect
To show up to the sun
And when that time comes
She will feel no fear
For the lessons she has learned
Will guide all the way
So let the wallflower grow
Don’t push her growth to rush
For beauty takes time to perfect
From steam to leaf to petal
In every inch and way
