Life's Too Short To Be Quiet

Life is short
But it's the longest thing you'll do
Be who you want to be
Not who others want you to
Surround yourself with people who care and understand
Make sure they are the people you want around at all
The kind of people who will catch you
And pick you up when you fall

I seem happy with my friends
With whom I laugh and I jest
But I would change my shyness
And tell the person I like best
I feel alone
In a sea of a million faces
I marvel at their smarts
And wonder if I am going places

My introverted nature
Keeps me from excelling
I listen and try to understand
But unasked questions keep me from comprehending

My life is happy
As far as they can see
Talking to others would help
And let me finally break free
There is a whole world to explore
If I am brave enough to face it
Staying quiet won't get me far
Letting it fly by is all I'll get
