Life in Death

Tue, 07/14/2015 - 17:50 -- guhlir5

The light is suddenly

Drowned by darkness,

My cousin shuffles innocently across

The basement floor, stomping his feet

Unconsciously

The lights are back on

And Gumball is impressed into the floor,

I laugh, not understanding

The drowning he is feeling

His miniscule feet strangely

Wiggle back and forth,

His teeth chatter in

Initial shock

His body squirms in the box and tears

Stream down my face,

All noises are drowned out by my

Emotional overstimulation

We force the pills down his throat

But he refuses, drowning in suffocation,

Purple pills are forever partially chewed

In his mouth

Suffocated surrounded by air,

Drowned above water,

Gumaball the guinea pig is dead

My face is implanted

Into the bed,

Pushing away any and all attempts

Of comfort, I cry and cry,

Drowning in tears

The turkey, stuffing, and apple pie drown

My throat pleasingly,

The tears exhibited a mere hour before

Are nowhere near apparent

My family gathers

And we all go around the table

Stating what we are thankful for,

I am thankful for life,

For life is truly awesome.
