The Life-Changer

Location

Kids hate school.
That isn't a surprise,
Especially the older ones, the ones
Who can't find a point to the formulas or
Calculations, the prose analyzation and
Those stupid fill-in-the-bubble,
Make sure it's dark and heavy tests that
Do not determine who you are as a person.
Which is what kids are. Teachers forget that...
We have feelings and emotions!
We aren't just hormone-run droids who
Enjoy making you annoyed with our noise;
Listen... to... it.
Listen to our thoughts and dreams,
Our fears and actually fill our heads with material
That will give us a future, not just help you
Meet your quotas;
Listen to me, my future my dreams my hope
Is to be the kind of teacher that we, that I have always...
Wanted.
The kind that can change a life;
Kids like me.
I want to be a teacher.
Which is a profession that should ground itself
In a student's mind and soul
Not give preference to who did or did not
Make the honor roll.
A profession where the teacher gives and
The student gives back;
A fulfilling relationship that has
The makings of something great.
Listen...
Do you hear me?
