Let Me Sleep

Staring at the walls until 2 a.m.
Praying this was a mistake,
In the morning will it be too late?
It was too late yesterday,

I spilled coffee on the counter,
Ages older than when I first could,
I've been shaking so much in my sleep,
From wanton grabbing to weeping breaths,

Pillows fall and my legs are twisted,
In a wild vine of tangled bedding,
The purple stripes sticking out in dawn,
What I want is to move them,

I can't bring myself to part 'em,
Can't bring myself to let go of you,
Not this way, but it is too late,
It is too late yesterday
