Just Around the Corner

Stormy clouds gather on the horizon,

Growing dark with every minute.

More menacing, more terrifying,

Consuming what remains of clear, blue sky.

Suddenly, a strong wind blows across the clouds,

Bringing with it a peal of light laughter, a distant memory from times already passed.

The light laughter becomes stronger, and so does the wind.

It becomes a strong gale, and the clouds begin to budge.

Now the laughter rings across the heavens, loud and clear,

Pushing the clouds aside to make room for it all.

There isn’t space for both the laughter and the clouds

In the wide sky.

The laughter is never hidden, never quiet, never lost.

Like a stream burbling through a forest;

You just have to find it.

And you can always find it if you want to.

Or, you can wallow in the storm and feel the raindrops run down your face,

Making tracks on your skin.

The storm won’t go away unless you let the laughter in:

Happiness is always just around the corner.
