Job Experience

This 'Glow Up'

It wasn't started with a filter,

or a grand weight loss journey.

It started when life got hard.

Give up your toys,

happiness doesn't meet reality.

Reality is retail to make ends meet.

When I worked the counters,

stocked each shelve and display,

a toothy smile only for the outside.

The hot ovens on blast,

the mess of flour on my hands,

and every delivery with no tip.

The rhythmic tapping of keys,

the vision in manila.

How can I help you today?

The loud clatter of porcelain,

and sweltering heat of competition.

I need to prove I'm the best here.

The glow of the computer screen,

of the blistering flame,

of the flickering close sign.

The hands are rougher,

but my eyes grow brighter,

this confidence comes from experience.

And from it breeds brilliance.
