Inner Light

I look around and my eyes fall

Am I the only one who feels this urge to run

to the hills, to my bed, to the arms of my mother

I hear my heart thumping so loud it drowns them

it even drowns me, but I fight for the surface

I open my eyes once more and still they’re looking at me

expecting something...anything to come out my mouth

I figure I’m not alone for I have the person that knows me best,

my very closest friends who keeps all my secrets

She knows that I cannot breathe so she breathes in for me

She’s my fears and my comfort for she is myself and I will always be there

rain or shine, I will always be there
