I'm Not That Kind of Girl
Location
I'm not that kind of girl
I'm not running all over the world
my life is not worth a second look.
I stay home and work and cook
often stuck behind the pages of a book
reading about places that seem magnificent.
Inside me though I am different
I want to go somewhere distant,
leave the left lane and travel the right.
I want to see the northern lights
to see Rome and Paris at night,
travel to places I've only seen in writing.
The oceans and seas sound inviting
the urge to go is inside me fighting,
to wander the plains and prairies.
To the world I am ordinary
but for me I see it on the contrary
its my time to take this journey.
In my heart I feel a yearning
to do something better than learning
about these far off magical places.
I want to perform on famous stages
and be one of the recognizable faces
I want to be more than a plain-Jane girl.
Instead of just chocolate I'll choose swirl
and my banner of uniqueness I'll unfurl
to declare to the world that i have changed.
My boring life has been exchanged
the priorities have been rearranged
I am not that kind of person.
As for me I am a new version
I am no longer going to hide behind the curtain
I have changed to be who I want to be
and with a loud decree
I say THIS IS ME!
