I'm dating my schoolwork.

Dear School,

I love you, let me tell you.

I must make that crystal clear.

But things have to change now

as we begin a new year.

You can't just ignore my questions

or guilt trip me for being ill.

With you taking all my weekends?

I think I've had my fill.

Our relationship's a strong one

which will go on for a while.

But if we are to last

I've got to ask:

Could you maybe let me smile?

I do everything you ask of me;

everything and more.

But instead of going out at night,

I just lie here on the floor.

Now I know I have my problems...

all my work procrastination.

But if fix that, will you promise

to work on communication?

You send me emails daily;

I don't have an issue with that.

But sending me messages at 1:30 am?

Look. We need to chat.

Let's look forward to our future

as we make our New Year's resolutions.

But if we're to make this thing work,

we have to find some new solutions.

Give me Friday and Saturday off,

just to have all to myself.

And I swear that I'll finally open

all those textbooks on the shelf.

I look forward to seeing you soon dear,

to hear what you have to say.

Let's meet up Sunday morning

at that little French cafe.

Love,

Olivia
