Ignorant Mist

Location

Where is it? The fight I lost so long ago.

Is it somewhere deep in my dark and clouded mind, shrouded by an ignorant mist.

Was it taken away from me the moment I decided that ignorance is not bliss.

How can I even act like I know?

Was it really obliviousness that motivated me so?

To work so hard and never let go.

My dreams may have been impregnable, and my chance slim at best.

However, it never really got to me until paranoia did.

It slithered around me like a snake, and tightened its dark coils around my lungs.

To assure itself that my outlandish thoughts would not be sung.

As I write this it is sickening to see what has truly happened to me.

What is even more appalling is how many other dreamers have fallen.

The vapor savors all different sizes and shapes and the young grow old as their confidence is melted away.

We all live in a society clouded in mist.

A society that believes imagination is ignorance and the crowd is bliss.

With every question answered wrong another child is publically shamed.

Merely because his answer was wrong, not because he was brave.

He may not have been positive but he wanted to strive.

Because he wanted to learn, he was not forced to try.

As people we have every right to answer and more to question.

Yet this darkness has taken our mind hostage and blinded our vision.

The dark mist has already gotten to me, and it has taken my whole life to get away.

Like our youth today I needed love, patience and determination.

That is what we are missing in some education.

No more suffocation of our youths dreams whether they are big or small let them believe.

If they want to play their own music then let them sing.

Let them miss notes until they beautifully ring.

Let them experiment with many songs so they can better learn who they are.

Because a teacher of any kind is not a teacher at all if they cannot even teach their children that mistakes are not wrong.
