If Only...

Location

When I was nine I was asked

What would you change in the world if you could?

And I remember thinking about it long and hard

Before replying, “I’d like to end world hunger”

Naïve in my thinking,

It seemed to be possible

To end starvation

And bring the world into salvation

Simple as it may seem

It’s really not logical

Because a wish like that seems to be so impossible

Recently I was asked again

My answer has changed

The change I see would be global

It would shake the nation with a never ending storm

You see I wish to give voice to those who can’t be heard

Those barely thriving under an oppressive hand

That they just can’t stand

My change would ignite a revolution

A symphony of cheers would sound through the world

Letting us know that our change is real

Man, a wish like that would be amazing

But until the day comes where my wish will come true

I’ll be right here writing

For those whose voice just can’t break through.
