I Wear the Mask
I wear the mask that everyone wants to see,
It changes constantly with every glance,
Each one displaying different facets of who everyone sees me to be.
Everyone has these masks we wear so willingly, some unknowingly.
I wear the mask of so many things.
They are heavy and I wish for wings.
Wings to lift me from these masks, so that I may break them.
Dropping the pieces to break others, reducing them to dust,
So that maybe one day,
They'll see, perhaps even agree.
I may wear the mask.
But the mask is not me.
