I See You (Witnessing Testimonies)

I see you on my timeline

And I don’t know what to say

I see your statuses

Talking disrespectful everyday

Your pictures are provocative

Your attitude is something else

It seems like you’re lost

Like you don’t have a sense of self

I’ve watched you since the day we met

You’ve gone from an innocent young woman

To someone who parties nightly

And drinks more spirits

Than the heavenly father has in heaven

I want to say something

But I don’t feel like it’s my place to say anything

I don’t want to come off as judging or preachy

Because I know I’m no angel

So I scroll to the next person’s online notification...

I see you man, always being positive

But in person you always experiencing the negatives

You have “4.0” written all over your brain

But when you take exams

Your mind races like a train

I know it’s been hard for you to ask for help

You take all of the weight of the world on your self

I hate to tell you to seek something like counseling from your pastor

You just blow up when everything goes wrong

Maybe it’s time to pray to thee Master

But maybe the struggle is deeper than that

Maybe, just maybe, there’s an illness acting

I don’t want to offend you with this suggestion

You just repeat the same mistakes

As if you’ve never learned your lesson

But I’ll keep you in my mind

And pray that your heart is healed

You talk to yourself daily

But to God, you need to be revealed

Onto the next, scrolling with my click wheel...

I see you single mother

Taking care of your daughter

I know it’s hard to raise a woman

Who doesn’t know the love of her father

But maybe you could teach her the love

Of the Holy Father

With bills to pay and mouths to feed

You ask, “Why even bother?”

There's no sense in all of this

Especially when raising you in your little girl

I ain't got no kids, so I can't even imagine

I know you love her as if she's your sole passion

No matter what, you want your own to be clean

Washed away from the cruelties of the world

The more I think about it, the more I agree

But that's enough for me, too much timeline on this screen.
