I Opened

Location

I pulled back the curtain once,

You told me it was safe.

You saw that I am a klutz,

That I love zombies and carry mace,

That my mom left with no one to take her place.

You saw the real me

And you weren’t particularly charmed.

There were other girls for you to see.

You broke my trust after disabling my alarm.

I was left to pick up the pieces with broken arms.

So I closed the curtain and turned from the mirror,

I crafted my mask to feign perfection,

“Move along folks, nothing to see here”

I say this quietly but with conviction.

I don’t want to hide forever, but to me trust is only fiction.
