I don't want to be like you.

I don't want to be like you

Why do you assume I want to be like you ?
Why can't I just be my own person ?
I know you introduced me to this world.
Not only that, but shared me your knowledge and exposed me to your perception of the good and bad in the world we live in.
I respect you but I can't always agree with you.

I have my own opinions.
Now it's my turn, to show you mine.
      I love you
But I don't want to be like you.
I appreciate you, but I can't be like you, even if I tried.
Either I can continue to beat myself up trying to live up to your expectations.
     Or just be me.
And I choose to be free.

I just feel trapped in your web of expectations

And I had enough.
No I'm not done with you.
I just want you to accept me for me.
 You created me.
I just want to be me.
This could be your worst nightmare but
          You get what you deserve.
