I Did Not Ask

I did not ask for this life

But you handed it to me

Like the sharp end of a knife

I did not ask for sight

But you gave it to me

In a world of everlasting fright

I did not ask for a voice

But you gave me one

And demanded my choice

I did not ask for judgement

So, yes, I ran and hid--

I did not ask for anything

But

You

Act

As

If

I

Did
