I am like a star,

a brilliant shining star.

I may not always be noticed, 

but I am always there.

I am not discouraged by others, 

and I always hold strong in my darkened night.

I do not allow the black to choke me down, 

because I know that I am greater.

I am a star, holding out until the morning light.

I dance in my brilliance, 

and I am larger than life. 

I am more than what some may see, 

and I am less than other may believe, but what matters, 

is that I am.
