I AM blue

I'm a masterpiece of colors

ripped at every edge.

Today I'm blue.

But as people touch me, their colors mix with mine.

Today I'm blue

but he's red,

and if he touches me I'll dissolve to lilac.

Some days I'm a saturated sunset

and other days I'm completely devoid of color.

Because color is what emotion looks like

and as I grow

and change

and experience beautiful things

and experience awful things,

colors are added to the vast palette that I call mine.

I'm not one characteristic or one feeling,

one thought, or one word, or one color.

I'm resilient. I change and adapt.

And however hard the world tries to wash me out,

I'm as vivid as I want to be.

I've been colors I didn’t know existed within myself.

From the darkest black,

to the brightest white

and everything in between.

I'm a masterpiece of colors

ripped at every edge.

Today I'm blue.

But tomorrow I might be red.
