"How I Know"

I live In Arizona,

The furnace of hell

Winter is almost nonexistent

It’s like an alternate version of Narnia;

When the witch resided

But it really isn’t that bad

While the heat beats on the streets.

 I think of my nice Air Conditioned house;

And the peace it brings

And suddenly

I’m thirsty.

I look across the road and see a circle K

I find myself lured by the 79 cent sign,

And smile…

Heat is bearable

Cold is tolerable

But life is awesome

In small moments of hope

I know that God is good,

And I take that thought and save it.

Like an essay due for school,

I look at glass half full

Every circumstance, every moment

I gaze into the hope of drinking that water

Life is unstable

We drink its blessings

And look at them mundanely

As I hear the soft ring,

I reach into my pocket

Digging and fumbling for hope

Ahh… I have a dollar

I decide to save it for another day

Life is what we make it

My life is awesome.
