Home, Someday
Ignored red watercolor paint spilled on a glass table,
Coffee mug creating crescent and full moon sections of rubbed away,
Left on piano jazz playing through phone speakers,
Sun creating glare on the mirror opposite of the table,
A half glass of three day old water sitting on a windowsill,
The girl living there hasn’t been home in hours,
The coffee is cold and the sun is heating the house in the summer,
Sheet music litters the otherwise clean floor,
Nomenclature chart hanging perfectly in the kitchen,
Cactus in the window flourishing,
The other half of the water in the glass having fed it three days prior,
A blue and black flannel hangs off the wooden chair by the table,
Bookshelf full and well read, with more on the way
This is home someday.
