Hidden Behind My Walls

We live in a world that you must act a certain way.

They tell you what to do, where to go, and what to say.

Everybody is judged for who they are.

So instead, we just keep up to par.

We all choose to hide behind closed doors.

We give them what they want and then nothing more.

Why must we hide what makes us unique?

Why must we live by the world's critique?

Just because I'm a man, I'm expected to be strong.

If I cry, If I hurt, I am doing it wrong.

I hide behind the mask, that is my shield.

I get hurt and walked on, but a smile I still yield.

We act just how we are expected to,

but deep inside, you know it's not you.
