Her

From across the parking lot

I glimpsed her sweet warm smile,

it said hello and beckoned me

to stay and talk awhile.

We talked about things near and dear

and how we view the world,

and on that warm, delightful day

a special bond unfurled.

Her smile captivated me,

her warmth reached deep inside,

and when our visit ended,

my joy could barely hide.

I knew not what to feel

since I'd be moving on,

but wondered where this spark could lead

despite that I'd be gone.

She, too, must have felt this awe,

her words spoke to my heart,

and on this day I knew deep down

that this was just the start.
