Hello, can you hear me?

Hello, can you hear me?

I’m not sure you can.

I’m supposed to feel protected

but I just feel I can

fall at any moment

and you wont lend a hand.

Is that how this thing works?

I thought that we would band

together and work as one,

but that was my mistake.

“By the people, for the people”

well, until there is a shake

to normal order

and something goes awry.

But I’m telling you right now,

I see in my mind’s eye

a tomorrow filled with safety,

filled with hope, and filled with love.

I see a government working with us

instead of ruling from above.

I understand the need for order,

the need for a line of command,

but the way it works now doesn’t cut it;

I’ve never felt less connected to my land.

Down here from the bottom

I know my voice is lost,

But I have faith that tomorrow

order may not come at the cost

of individual’s safety

and of their piece of mind.

I know it’s a lot

but it’s a dream of mine.

Understanding the people,

listening to us: that’s the key.

Only when we work together can

any one of us be free.
