Heavy Hospital Heart
We entered the warm, humid hospital room,
almost the whole family was there.
This only happens on holidays,
or devastating and mysterious days like this.
Hugs were shared, space was made for us. We sat and stood
around the beds, fought back tears, tried to be strong,
to pretend that everything was okay.
After a while I decided to walk down the hallway,
an unending maze. There I was with two of my cousins,
trying to kill time. I was starting to get tired,
it was approaching eleven o’ clock.
We were trying to forget what was happening in that room,
scared of what was expected to happen,
a link of our family...
Gone
After this nothing would ever be the same.
