What happened to fairy tales?Of knights in shinning armor,Of a prince in disguise,Of kings with kind sons,Of men turned to frogs,Of the sacrifice for love,Of warriors with clever puns,What happened to happily ever after? I remember when a child could dream,Of far off lands,Of pirates and magic, and battles,Always won by the good man,I miss when a girl could wonder,What it was to be royalty,To be a princess with a prince,To be loved and showered in loyalty, You could be rich or poor,Man or beast,Still your end was great,Your victory would not leave,No matter how great the villain,A hero would arise,To slay the evil at hand,And in the end glow in their pride,  Life has spoiled these stories,The poison sinking deep,Seldom you see a child with a dreamy smirk,Or fantasy filled dreams,"Fairy tales are not real","Nor the monster under your bed!"When did this become a chant? Why are these mysteries dead?  Evil grows in strength everyday,Ripping childhood from our grasp,Soon enough we won't remember,Not one story from our past,When did you last hear a child shout,"I dream to be a hero, a prince!" Now abuse and moving pictures,Has taken their determined grins, What happened to fairy tales? Of a princess in a tower,Of a maid working for her dream,Of a mother saving the day,Of  birds that sang along,Of dwarves ready to help,Of women who were brave,What happened to happily ever after? When did it become, A happily never after
