The Hanging Tree

When moon touches Earth

and stays for awhile,

you'll see an eerie sight,

a lover and his love-lost

are gathering tonight.

Beneath the bonny apple tree

where most folks take delight,

a groom and his never-bride

are gathering tonight.

When skies scream

and winds whine,

you know what you will find.

Two star-crossed lovers

swaying slightly

just as the day they died.
