Handcuffs
The handcuffs are on
I’m sorry, no way out
Enjoy your life of pain and strife
It only has begun
This disease,
It eats and tears and shrieks
Don’t do this,
Can’t eat these
The never ending yes or no
To live success
These have to go
No chocolate, no fruit
Unless you want pain
Some immuno-bug is to blame
When I want to cave
To scream and cry
I take a step back and remember why,
I work and work to reach a goal
That right now is unattainable
I know what it is to be lost and hurt,
To watch doctors stumble over words
It won’t beat me down.
It won’t make me quit.
These handcuffs will come off
When I’M the Rheumatologist
